This schedule was updated on 1-11-11 to clarify that labs WILL meet on Nov. 10.
Grades 8 -12
Teacher: Cheryl Kirchner
Day/Time: Thursdays, 10:30/10:45 – 11:45 am
Dates Sept. 15, 29, Oct. 13, 27, Nov. 10, Dec. 15, Jan. 12, Feb. 9, 23, March 8, 22, Apr. 12, 26, May 10. (14 meetings)
Classroom: Grace Kitchen
Tuition: $75This class is full as of 9/14/11.
Students will be completing labs from Apologia’s Biology text. This class will be more of a lab co-op than an actual class, in that Mrs. Kirchner, the teacher, will not be teaching the concepts from the text, though she will answer questions that students may have. Students will be learning primarily at home from their texts and then gathering at Connections for the labs on the specific dates below.
Required Text: Exploring Creation with Biology text (any version), lab notebook, pen. Parents will need a copy of the Solutions and Tests to correct their student’s work and/or to give tests. Students may occasionally be asked to bring a common household item from home. Students will be able to use microscopes, dissections tools, and other lab equipment from Connections.
Lab Schedule: Students should read each module, especially the experiments before each lab meeting. If they are not done with the module, students should at least read the lab before class. The publisher recommends 2 weeks for each module, except for Module 6 which requires 3 weeks.
