Soroptomist Scholarships

This information pertains to the Kalispell Soroptomists Club. Bigfork and Whitefish also have clubs, but I do not know the contact information for those clubs.

Soroptimist International is a volunteer service organization for women with the primary goal of bettering the lives of women and children. The Soroptomists offer the following scholarships each year. Homeschool students are eligible for these scholarships.

1. Violet Richardson Award: $800 cash award for a young woman 14-17 years old. To be eligible the young woman must be actively volunteering in her community by identifying a need and then addressing that need. The award is shared equally between the recipient and the organization for which she volunteers. Application is due Dec. 1

2. Past Presidents Scholarship: $1000 awarded to either a male or female high school senior who plans to attend college or a technical school. The scholarship is based on scholastic records, community servide/work history and financial need. The application is due Jan. 10

3. Women’s Opportunity Award: $1000 award for a woman who is financial head of her household and wishes to further her educational or vocational trainign, and who lacks the financial resources to do so. This award is earmarked for books, tuition, or other costs related to her education. The recipient also becomes eligible at other levels of competition. The application is due Dec. 15.

4. Fellowship Award: This award is sponsored by the Northwestern Regions of Soroptomist International and is awarded to woman who holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university and who plans to pursue post graduate study in her business or profession. The application is due Jan. 10.
